Maité Iturri

Steering Committee

Maité was born and raised in San Francisco in an immigrant, bilingual and bicultural home. She has been a Sonoma Valley resident for over 30 years. A steadfast community leader, she is the chairperson of the Spring Municipal Advisory Council  (SMAC) and co-founder of Food for All/Comida para Todos (FFA/CPT), a nonprofit in the Springs focusing on supplying food and basic supplies to our community. In addition, Maité is part of the Adjunct Faculty at Sonoma State University, teaching in the Educational Leadership Program.

Maité is the Superintendent of Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District. She was formerly Assistant Superintentant of Petaluma City Schools and Principal of El Verano Elementary School. She received her undergraduate degree in Mexican-American Studies, her Teaching Credential, and her Masters in Educational Leadership from Sonoma State University. She attended University of California, Davis where she started her Doctorate in Educational Leadership. She is completing her Doctorate from San Francisco State University.

Maité has led several educational and community initiatives designed to create access and close the opportunity gaps that exist in our community. She opened the first Family Resource Center on a school campus in Sonoma Valley, dedicated to developing parent leadership and the social emotional well being of families. She works to create conditions for parents to lead and students to thrive. Through her work with SMAC and FFA/CPT she works with community to improve the living conditions of community members and families. 

In 2023 Maité was honored as the Paul Harris Fellow awardee by both the Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley and the Rotary Club of Sonoma Springs for her community work.
