Grants Committee

Aiko-Sophie was born and raised in the Sonoma Valley and graduated from San Francisco State University with a BA in International Relations. She took her interest in politics to community engagement work in the Bay Area.

In 2013 Aiko-Sophie and her husband moved from San Francisco back to Sonoma Valley, to the Springs. She was drawn by the energy there – family, kids playing, wonderful neighbors. She and her husband are raising their two children and running a construction firm. Aiko-Sophie loves hiking with her family and on her own at Sonoma Overlook Trail, Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, or the Sonoma Developmental Center.

Aiko-Sophie is an experienced Program Officer with 10+ years of experience managing a portfolio of 20+ community organizations, multi-million dollar scholarships, and developing grant strategies. She has extensive knowledge of navigating complex relationships and uses it to help nonprofits deepen their relationships with the communities they serve.

Aiko-Sophie currently applies her passion for philanthropy through several leadership roles in our community. She has been a member of the Impact100 Sonoma for the past five years serving on their grant committee for two years, the DEI committee for one year, and the Next Gen Committee for one year. She has been a member of the Sonoma Valley Catalyst Fund grants committee since its inception in 2020. She serves on the Community Advisory Committee for the Community Mental Health Hub at Hanna Center, as a board member for Community Foundation Sonoma County, and chairs the Steering Committee of Sonoma Valley Collaborative.
